Yamanaka Lacquerware Cooperative Association

About

The Yamanaka Lacquerware Cooperative Association, which has a long history dating back to the Edo period (1603-1868) when it was organised as a "structure", has a membership of all the traders engaged in Yamanaka lacquerware, and serves as a contact point for the industry as a whole. The association also carries out various projects to improve the economic status of its members by providing guidance and assistance to the national, prefectural and municipal governments and other organisations.
The Yamanaka Lacquerware Cooperative Association is made up of all the establishments involved in Yamanaka lacquerware, from the first to the ninth division, including lacquerware manufacturers and wholesalers and craftsmen. As the only organisation representing the industry in the region, it plays an important role in responding to various bodies, including the government, the legal system and making rules for the production area.
