山中塗　子供椀 洗朱

欅を竪木取りにし、欅の木目の見える「目弾き」という技法で仕上げた朱色の子供用の小ぶりのお椀です。小さい手でも持てるようにと、高台を大人用の汁椀より広くしてあります。高台を広くすることにより、置いた時の安定感も増します。

This is a small bowl for children in vermilion color, made by vertical cutting of zelkova and finished with a technique called "Metsudaki", in which the grain of the zelkova wood can be seen.
The height of the bowl is wider than adult bowls so that even small hands can hold it. The wider base makes the bowls more stable when placed on the table.
